Parkerville Hall Centenary Celebration

The fantastic cake representing the Parkerville Hall made by Bronte Vivier

On Saturday 1st October an event was undertaken to celebrate the Centenary of Parkerville’s third

Hall. Many locals and visitors gathered in the Hall which had been decorated with numerous displays by ourselves MHHS, Rob Borsje the secretary of the SPPA- Stoneville Parkerville Progress Association,

Owen Briffa and the Parkerville Pub.

The event started at 10 am and soon the hall was filled with interested people looking at the various

displays. Outside the Hall on display were a number of vintage cars and motorcycles to admire.

The MC for the day was a well-known local Wally Winfield who gave a very interesting and humorous talk about the development of Parkerville itself and the many activities that took place in the hall such as agricultural events, fancy dress and debutant balls and many weddings one of which was Wally and his wife Ann. Many people were able to reminisce about their school days and other events in their lives at Parkerville.

It was lovely to see people who had not seen each other for many years greeting each other at this event. A delicious afternoon tea with freshly baked scones was provided by the CWA in the upper hall.

Music was provided by Margaret Jones and her brother Lawrence.

A number of Shire representatives attended the event and Councillor Page McNeill gave a speech

acknowledging and thanking all the people who had collated the information for the displays.

Later in the afternoon a stupendous iced cake in the shape off the hall created by Bronte Vivier was

ceremoniously cut by Madge Sermon.

A pleasant result of this event was that we were able to collect a number of photographs showing

various celebrations at the hall.
