KEEPING TIME. Preserving and documenting local history since 1989

Because
History
Matters

MHHS aims to preserve, document, acquire and interpret the history of the Eastern Hills near Perth, Western Australia. MHHS assists individual researchers, schools and other groups to compile local history. The Society has a large Archive of information relating to the history of the Shire of Mundaring. The Mundaring District Museum, opened in 1997, houses a permanent display about people, places and events of historical interest to the Shire.

We inspire our community to maintain and understand our Shire's unique cultural heritage

NEW Museum Exhibition
Coming Soon

The museum is currently closed for several weeks as we are preparing for a new exhibition. This will be a semi-permanent exhibition that celebrates the history and people of all the localities within the Shire of Mundaring.

We are calling the exhibition semi-permanent as many objects will remain on display.  However, we will also be updating the space throughout the year with different histories along with supporting objects.

MHHS is active within our community, visiting historical sites and researching continuously throughout the year facilitating the discovery of new histories as well as updating current stories. Our office is also busy with visitors generously donating objects, family stories and historical information.

The new semi-permanent exhibition layout will allow us to share these new discoveries and newly donated objects and photographs on a regular basis.

This will also include:

  • Aboriginal History

  • Know your Locality

  • Golden Pipeline

  • Tunnels & Trains

  • Convict & Pioneer stories

  • Wartime in Mundaring

  • Contemporary Stories

And much more…

Watch this space for further updates.
