V J Day- Victory over Japan

Updated: Sep 23, 2024

This day in 1945 is the day that the world celebrated Japan's acceptance of the Allied demand for acceptance of surrender. This day we commemorate the War Memorials and Honour Boards found in our Shire. Mundaring and Chidlow have War Memorials and most of the other localities have Honour Boards.

These are Chidlow, Darlington, Glen Forrest, Lion Mill/Mount Helena, Mundaring, Parkerville, Wooroloo Sanitorium, Sawyers Valley and Wooroloo. Some of the Honour Boards have been added to over the years to include Vietnam War soldiers.
