World Health Day

Updated: Apr 26, 2022

World Health Day is a global health Awareness Day celebrated on the 7th April every year under the sponsorship of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

This began in 1950 as an opportunity to draw attention to a subject of global health each year.

Over the years there have been many themes including, Mental Health, Food Safety, Nurses and Midwives, and Diabetes.

In the face of the current pandemic, a polluted planet, and an increasing incidence of diseases, the theme for World Health Day 2022 is Our Planet, Our Health.

Continuing our promotion of the Shire of Mundaring, we have found some early photographs relating to health in the Shire

Up until WWl there were no local doctors in Mundaring. Doctors had to travel from Guildford. In 1915, Dr Charles Lovegrove moved to Mundaring to a bungalow on Nichol Street and opened the first practice. Dr Alexander Breckler and Dr Guy Wallace later practised at this address.
