Early Shops in the Shire
There were many family-owned businesses in the Shire of Mundaring where the business owner and their families would live behind the shop.
In the 1950s self service came into being and later came the advent of supermarkets!

Now the Community Pantry. (P2024.6) Bray's Store cnr GE Hwy and Hardey Rd Glen Forrest. 1939 - 1957 (destroyed by fire). P2003.141) Digby sisters Self Service store in early 1950s, GE Hwy Mundaring (P2020.33.8) The Digby Sisters original shop/tea rooms (rt), second one built as self service grocery store.
