Valentines Day

As it will be Valentine’s Day on Saturday we though we would retrieve some photographs of local weddings over the years here in the Shire of Mundaring.


Valentine’s Day is can sometimes lead to proposals of marriage. Proposals can be made in lots of way, on bended knee, in hot air balloons, planes towing banners or just a romantic dinner.


We have included some photographs of weddings that took place through the decades here in Mundaring. Also if you take a look on our website at Past Exhibitions you will see a photo of the wedding dresses that were donated for display and an explanation of why certain colours. and especially white. was the chosen colour for the bride’s dress.


  • Otway-Farrell wedding, Sawyers Valley Church.
  • Marea & Ron Gale's wedding receiption, Octagonal Hall 1956. They were married at St Andrews church.
  • Portrait of William Duncan Millar and May William, 1916. They had the Sawyers Valley PO 1916-1950s.
  • Wedding of Peggy Barie & Colin Welsh 1947. Clin was a wood carter for the Weir pumping stations.
  • Wedding Janice Farrell and Brian Wallers, St Mark's Church Mt Helena 1965.
  • Wedding of Frederick William Jacoby and wife Agnes, 1897.
  • Wedding of Sussana Lauffer to Guiseppi Lori at Midland Junction 1906.
  • Wedding of Fred and Merle Schoch 1916.
